Memorial Day Ceremony
Auburn area veterans will observe Memorial Day Monday, May 29, 2023 beginning at 9 AM at the War Memorial in the New Auburn Cemetery. There will be brief remarks by dignitaries, a fly-over, dove release, wreath-placement, 3-volley rifle salute and TAPS.
Immediately following, brief ceremonies are held at the Old Auburn Cemetery, Newcastle Cemetery and the Maidu Indian Burial Ground.
We take this opportunity to honor those who have given their all in defense of our country. And, we recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by their families.
Veterans, assisted by local Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and other volunteers place American flags at all veterans’ graves in the Auburn cemeteries.
Members of all veterans organizations in Auburn join forces to commemorate this day of remembrance.
