The American Legion Riders
The American Legion Riders are members of the American Legion who are also motorcycle enthusiasts. They can be found participating in parades, motorcycling events, and supporting the communities in which they live.
The American Legion Riders was never intended to be a "Motorcycle Club". The American Legion Riders is family-oriented, just as is its parent organization: the American Legion. The objective is to support the aims and purposes of the American Legion – service to our Community, State and Nation.
The American Legion Riders are a diverse group, as are the programs that they are involved in. Each American Legion Rider Chapter gives their members the ability to manage their own program at the Post level. Today, the types of things that these groups are doing are too many to mention here, but here are a few examples:- Sponsoring or participating in local Charity events.
- Sponsoring or participating in motorcycle "Runs" to benefit numerous charities, including charities for underprivileged children and medical research, just to name a few.
- Participation in memorial ceremonies and community parades.
- One group is spearheading an effort to erect a "Veterans Memorial Park" in the center of their Downtown area.
Their recognition as a valuable asset by many local communities has marked the program as a true success.
Richard W. Townsend Post 84 Auburn, California, is proud to have The American Legion Riders addition to our Post.
